Wikipedia doesn't have much useful information about permanent magnet generators (PMG's).
If you look at the wiki page it simply has a one sentence definition and then lists some advantages and disadvantages of the permanent magnet generator.
The notable advantages being the high efficiency in terms of input and cost.
Because permanent magnet generators use strong neodymium magnets to power the turbine, they are super efficient. The permanent magnet generator is not to be confused with the Tesla Turbine or Magnet Motor which both run without any external energy input, thereby producing free magnetic energy.
Permanent Magnet Generator Design
The most common use for the permanent magnet generator is in wind turbines for the
home. PMG's are used to convert the wind energy into electrical energy. The PMG is
placed behind the blades, attached and mounted to the main unit. These PMGs usually
come in a strong casing to protect them from the elements and corrosion.
Here's a quick run down of the design.
Inside the PMG, you will find multiple neodymium magnets (also known as NdFeB, NIB,
or Neo magnet). These magnets are comprised mainly of Neodymium and are basically

magnet generator. Currently there is not any large scale production of these types
of generators anywhere in the world. However, there are lots of small scale businesses
and engineering firms who produce PMGs.
The best place to start looking is on Amazon, eBay and Ametek. Amazon is the most
highly recommended place to get PMGs because of the excellent feedback system and
credibility of the site. Amazon has a very strict application and screening process

The main difference between the permanent magnet generator and the magnet motor is that the PMG requires an external energy source to power the turbine. usually in the form of wind power, steam or electrical current.
The Magnet Motor requires no external power supply, using the magnetic power of the
internal magnets to create a source of free energy.

While it is quite possible to make your own permanent magnet generator, it does
require some quite intense engineering. So if you don't have access to some heavy
machinery, lathes and welding equipment then you're best bet is to buy a new one
or look for parts and put it together yourself.

constructed permanent magnet generators; the first one is from Ohio State University
and the second one is from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
